AFRICAN COMPREHENSIVE HIVAIDS

Voluntary male circumcisionin july 2021 achap was awarded a five-year agreement by the us government through centers for disease control in order to implement voluntary male medical circumcision as a biomedical prevention technique to reduce hiv incidence in botswana. The support in this project covers direct service delivery including remuneration costs for implementation staff, travel costs incurred taking services to batswana, procurement of supplies and equipment etc.

Global fundachap directly implemented in 5 districts. The project aimed at supporting botswana to strengthen hiv prevention and reduction of morbidity and mortality.the specific interventions were sexual reproductive health (srh), gender norms, hiv testing services (hts), voluntary medical male circumcision (vmmc), hiv pre-exposure prophylaxis (prep), human rights, legal representation and social asset building

Consulatanciesachap also implemented several consultancies in the period under review. Implementation of the amref sll and aranda projects described in previous years was completed in this period.amref sll (phase ii) is a continuation of the commitments made under phase i, and its primary focus is protection of priority groups from vaccine-preventable diseases and the integration of covid-19 management into routine immunization.intercare-achap partnered with the university of botswana to work on an nih funded pilot program on integrating hypertension and cardiovascular diseases care into the existing hiv services package in botswana.icars,achap supported the antimicrobial resistance fund administration for country scoping workshop for logistics.achap supported pepfar cdc tot implementation as for smooth transation for techical supported which capacitated the moh to be in position to fully implement smc in the public facilities in the current cop25 implementation.
