Certification - the certified government financial manager (cgfm) is a professional certification awarded by aga after applicants successfully demonstrate knowledge of government environment (exam 1), governmental accounting, financial reporting and budgeting (exam 2) , and governmental financial management and control (exam 3). These three exams require the applicant to demonstrate competency in governmental accounting, auditing, financial reporting, internal controls, and budgeting at the federal, state, and local levels. This certification supports the overall public through creating knowledgeable financial leaders and promoting high standards for those individuals overseeing public funds.
