AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR PHARMACOLOGY &

Marketing - to promote aspet's programs and services, produce the pharmacologist, aspet's monthly newsletter, promote memberships and the annual meeting.

Awards - the society offers three types of awards to distinguished pharmacologists and to students and young scientists in the field. Scientific awards are provided to recognize and encourage outstanding research by prominent pharmacologists and to stimulate fundamental research by young investigators. Best poster awards are presented to meeting attendees who have submitted an outstanding research abstract for presentation at the meeting. Travel awards are granted to students as an educational tool to attend scientific meetings.

Member services - includes membership communications and divisions to address specific areas of concern or interest to the member pharmacologists in the society. Nomination and election of new members, development of educational activities relevant to the promotion and advancement of the scientific discipline. Web site provides an interface between members and the society as well as information to individuals wishing to learn more about the field of pharmacology.

Public services - provides information to the general public about pharmacology and scientific achievements and needs in the field. Officers and members provide a resource to the community when there is a need for specialized expertise. The education division conducts special sessions devoted to improving education in the pharmacological sciences.

Educational affairs - supports summer undergraduate research fellowships in the field of pharmacology.
