Programs & Activities

Program 1

$106K

Aaa promise:aaa promise discourages underage drinking and protects teens and everyone else on the roadways during prom and graduation season. The program brings together teens, parents and schools into this important conversation. By making the aaa promise, teens commit to making the right decision when it comes to underage drinking, drugs and impaired driving.

Program 2

$87K

Traffic and safety curriculum:educational materials are developed and distributed throughout our communities on various traffic safety topics including pedestrian safety, the importance of wearing seat belts, and motorcycle safety. The foundation provided halloween trick-or-treat bags and reflective zipper pulls to children to help keep them safe. Working with law enforcement, we provided schools with "schools open, drive carefully" materials to make the public aware of increased pedestrian and bicycle traffic as well as school zones. Additionally, bicycle helmets and educational materials were provided to children through our bicycle safety program.

Program 3

$6K

Child passenger safety:motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children 2-14 years old. According to the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), three out of four car safety seats are improperly installed. The foundation educates the public, and especially parents and caregivers about the importance of properly securing children while riding in vehicles. In addition, we conduct car seat checks and provide car seats and booster seats to families in need.

Program 4

$13K

Teen driver safety:we offer a full range of tools to help parents and teens throughout the entire learning-to-drive process. We align our outreach with high schools, traffic community safety partners and law enforcement in an effort to promote safe driving behaviors. Our "be a good passenger" program enlists the help of teen passengers to keep the teen driver focused on the road.

Program 5

$40K

Driver improvement program:the foundation provides drivers with the knowledge and skills they need to operate a motor vehicle safely and make more responsible use of the roadways. The senior defensive driver program provides safe driving practices to help senior drivers aged 55 and older. It delivers tips and techniques to help experienced drivers compensate for changing vision, reflexes and response time; understand how prescription medications may affect driving; and drive defensively in a variety of situations.

Program 6

$34K

Distracted driving:distractions have always been a factor in the safe operation of a vehicle, and use of mobile phones and telematics devices are two of many activities that distract today's drivers. The put it down campaign educates motorists about the significant safety risks associated with distractions and helps develop solutions to improve safety on our roads. In addition, we provide a wide array of educational materials that are used in conjunction with 44 aaa driving simulators that were utilized at high schools and community events.

Program 7

$40K

Tow to go:the tow to go program removes intoxicated drivers from the roads by providing a free ride home for the individual as well as their vehicle during celebratory holidays.

Program 8

Senior safety and mobility:today's senior drivers are healthier and more active than ever before. They are also among the safest of drivers who wear their safety belts and obey traffic laws. However, they are more likely to be killed in a car crash due to age-related fragility and health issues. For this reason, we are dedicated to helping experienced drivers improve their performance behind the wheel. When it is not safely possible to drive any longer, we're also committed to promoting viable transportation options.
