Program 1
$192KThe beat the streets academy is a comprehensive program geared to providing our most engaged student-athletes with a dynamic and holistic experience throughout the school year. Academy members will not only learn valuable wrestling skills from bts staff-coaches but more importantly, the academic, social, and emotional skills that they need to succeed in life. The program runs throughout the school year and is centered around 10 academy days, featuring world-class clinicians and speakers, an annual career day, college visits, life skills workshops, and college / career prep. In 2023-24, the academy had a 100% graduation and college/military entrance rate for participating high school seniors. 100% of participants increased in at least one social emotional learning capacity such as self-confidence, community, self-management, etc. Throughout the year. Our student-athletes also succeeded on the wrestling mat as we had the first-ever ny boys' state champion academy member. Academy members also garnered national recognition winning a national title and achieving all-american honors at various tournaments throughout the year. Off the mat students were successful in their completion of high school as well as getting admitted into some of the nation's best universities. Bts sends student-athletes to local, regional, and national competitions. By fully funding competition and travel, bts youth from low-income backgrounds can compete with the best athletes in the country and become exposed to college coaches at the d1, d2, and d3 levels. They are also able to visit different parts of the country and different college campuses as a part of the experience.
Program 2
$166KThe training center program provides year-round training opportunities in 2023-2024. The training center is open to all students from k-12th grade, with practices offered 3-4 days per week. In the 2023-2024 season, there were 2,222 registered student-athletes, 418 of whom were girls. This was an overall increase of almost 50% from the previous year, mainly due to increased community engagement and a new, centralized facility to train at. Through the training center, student-athletes have access to local, regional, and national competition opportunities as well as world-class coaches to help them develop their skills.
