Technical Assistance to grantees and other charitable organizations. This amount represent salary and overhead allocations of program staff for time spent advising grantees and other charitable organizations on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to, obtaining additional funding from other sources reducing operating expenses, complying with government regulation, maintaining accurate financial records, for catalyzing integrated approaches to innovation in education reform or developing new approaches to learning.

Services on board or advisory committees. The amount represents the cost to support the service of Carnegie staff on board or advisory committees of other charitable organizations.

Conducting conferences and meetings. Carnegie conducts several meetings per year in each of its program areas that bring together participants from various academic disciplines, and the public and private sectors, to exchange ideas and formulate solutions or methods of arriving at solutions to problems in their area of expertise. The meetings benefit these individuals and ultimately the communities they serve.
