Program 1

$126K

CCFA developed a primer on child care and met with candidates running for state legislature to educate them on current state programs for child care. When possible CCFA invited a community member to attend these meetings to share their perspective on care. CCFA shared publicly available data on how many licensed child care facilities are in a candidates district high-level messaging guidance on talking about child care and how candidates can connect people in need of child care to the states subsidy system. These trainings were nonpartisan and any candidate could apply across the political spectrum.

Program 2

$164K

CCFA ran a high-quality poll with coalition partners about voters attitudes on child care. This included hiring a consultant to conduct focus groups and conducting a multi-modal survey for voters across the state to understand where child care ranked on voters priorities. After conducting this survey we hired a skilled communications consultant to create talking points informed by poll language on how to talk about child care in a way that resonates with voters. We conducted two candidate trainings that were open to all candidates running for office. We published the communications materials and poll toplines for the public and for all candidates across the political spectrum.

Program 3

$36K

During the legislative session staff and board members met with lawmakers to educate them about the importance of high-quality child care. These meetings were strictly educational and did not advocate for or against any legislation.

Program 4

$23K

With coalition partners Childrens Campaign Fund Action CCFA led a delegation of advocates lawmakers business leaders and government officials to Canada to learn about the Canadian child care system. The trip included meetings and presentations from government officials in the city of Toronto and the province of Ontario. It also included a panel of child care providers who shared their feedback on the implementation of the Canadian campaign for affordable child care. We collected data from those on the trip and produced a high-quality report that was distributed to lawmakers.

Program 5

$24K

CCFA conducted a webinar with a national speaker before the legislative session began to educate lawmakers about different state proposals on child care. With a partner organization we purchased books from our speaker Dan Wuori to distribute to all lawmakers prior to the beginning of session.
