$143KThe purpose of the foundation is to provide a peaceful and supportive setting where an international community of visual artists, writers and composers may pursue their work independently and without judgement or interruption, exchange ideas, and forge deep connections to one another and the world around them -- across differences, disciplines, and cultures while benefiting from the atmosphere of the castle and umbria's rich cultural heritage. In 2024, civitella provided six-week fully funded residencies to 47 artists from 24 countries, including 27 artists who identified as being from the united states.
Program 2
$125KThe winter session program of the foundation offers poetry workshops, art workshops, and other one-two week travel study tours aligned with civitella's mission. The winter session season runs eachs year from late october to late april the following spring. Fees are received in the united states for these programs, and included in the winter session revenues are occasional alumni room occupancies should a project proposal be accepted. The foundation's winter session revenue is recognized as cash received and the foundation is not required to provide additional goods and services. In 2024, civitella organized six winter session programs, serving 70 people, all from the united states.
