Programs & Activities
Program 1
$263KNational conferences: two national conferences are typically held each year, offering a comprehensive program of training sessions, workshops, meetings, roundtables, and fellowship opportunities. National conference ("nacon") - the u.s. Coast guard auxiliary's national conference in orlando, florida. The event includes leadership training opportunities as well as meetings for the nexcom, the opcom, and the national board of the u.s. Coast guard auxiliary. Nacon also serves as a forum for biennial elections for the auxiliary's national leadership. During 2023, nacon was canceled early due to covid-19 cases at the event. (continued on schedule o)national training conference ("n-train") - the u.s. Coast guard auxiliary's national training event for selected district officers in st. Louis, missouri. The event includes leadership training opportunities as well as meetings for the national executive committee ("nexcom"), the national staff operating committee ("opcom"), and the national board of the u.s. Coast guard auxiliary. During 2024, n-train was conducted via a virtual event, significantly reducing travel expenditures.
Program 2
$196KRecreational boating safety (rbs): in 2023, the association purchased display racks to distribute auxiliary recreational boating safety pamphlets. Continuing rbs efforts in 2024, and in support of the auxiliary paddle sports grant from the coast guard, the association acquired 42,000 safety whistles and reflector kits. These will be distributed to recreational paddlers as part of an outreach program designed to promote on-water safety. Additionally, the association sponsored two auxiliary "train-the-trainer" events focused on paddle craft, aiming to enhance the auxiliary's capacity to educate the public on boating safety and paddle craft boating laws.
