Dccca's community-based initiatives span four states. Prevention services programs design and develop learning modules and training resources focused on substance misuse prevention, mental health promotion, suicide prevention, and problem gambling prevention. Dccca has specific prescription drug and opioid misuse prevention efforts in kansas and oklahoma. Dccca's community-based services division also offers strategic planning and meeting facilitation services for community organizations and mental health first aid training in kansas, dccca has four primary projects: a statewide training and technical assistance project, a state-wide opioid and prescription drug misuse project, a statewide suicide prevention project, and a federal drug-free communities initiative in douglas county. Within the kansas prescription drug prevention efforts, dccca maintains contracts with the kansas department for aging and disability services and the kansas department of health and environment to collaborate with key stakeholders to maintain and update the kansas strategic plan to address prescription drug and opioid misuse. Dccca also coordinates naloxone distribution, fentanyl test strip distribution, and safe storage and disposal methods for prescription drugs and opioids. Dccca also coordinates efforts to support first responders with leave behind kits to prevent future overdoes. Dccca utilizes funds from the douglas county government to leverage federal drug-free communities dollars to address substance misuse among youth and build community partnerships in douglas county. Dccca continues to leverage foundation funding to support school-based prevention efforts with an emphasis on developing workforce skills for youth interested in careers in community and behavioral health.in oklahoma, dccca has three primary projects focused on opioid misuse prevention, stimulant misuse prevention, and mental health first aid training through state and federal funding sources. The opioid and stimulant projects focus on community-based planning and implementation of evidence-based strategies; education focused on the medical availability of prescription drugs, emphasizing safe use, storage, and disposal of prescription drugs, and promotion of naloxone administration. The mental health first aid project focuses on stateside training and specific training in partnership with the university of central oklahoma.dccca operates traffic safety programs in kansas, oklahoma, iowa, and missouri. In kansas, we provide public information and education on occupant protection, impaired driving, novice drivers, distracted driving, older drivers, motorcycle safety, and underage drinking. In kansas, oklahoma, and iowa we offer the seatbelts are for everyone (safe) program, which is a teen-led, peer-to-peer program designed to reduce the number of motor vehicle related injuries and fatalities among teens. Additionally, in missouri, dccca offers to booster to belts program which is an interactive way for teens to teach children (k-3rd grade) the importance of wearing a seat belt and using a booster seat.
