Programs & Activities
Program 1
$288KCollaborating with the cardiovascular education foundation, we have provided financial support and strategic consultation on over 36 medical skill-share trips, facilitating hundreds of surgeries and hundreds of hours of in-person training. These trips have taken place in countries such as ghana, nigeria, ethiopia, haiti, kenya, tanzania, and rwanda. Our focus has been on educating local physicians and healthcare professionals in best practices for both invasive and non-invasive cardiology. Additionally, we have supplied donated medical equipment to help expand their programs and address the significant healthcare needs of indigent populations. Volunteers from organizations we support and collaborate with hail from renowned institutions, including harvard/mass general hospital, northampton general hospital (uk), the university of texas (houston), the university of michigan, and blackrock hospital (ireland).
Program 2
To further expand access to medical education, we co-host bi-weekly educational webinars open to cardiologists worldwide and have created a youtube library of over 50 hours of free cardiovascular content, specifically tailored for healthcare professionals in resource-constrained environments.
Program 3
Support impactful programs such as project my heart your heart at the university of michigan in their fda-approved device reprocessing study, which provides pacemakers to countries that cannot afford them for their indigent patients. Support team heart rwanda, which has been building cardiothoracic surgery capacity in rwanda for over 15 years, as well as cardiology conferences in kenya and rwanda through the pan-african society of cardiology. Moreover, to address the siloed nature of international development work, we are striving to improve networking and collaboration amongst cardiovascular organizations like team heart, project my heart your heart, the cardiovascular education foundation, global ficcs, madaktari, and the scheinman foundation to name a few.
Program 4
Good cardiovascular health comes from developing healthy habits early and having access to a proper diet. The djrof has committed to early childhood development through our collaboration with caritas rwanda and construction of an early childhood development center.
