Commercial development - the business investment fund utilizes hud/cdbg funds to commercial property owners for code improvements and exterior rehabilitation to eliminate blight and create a positive impact in this low- to moderate-income neighborhood. In 2024, esndc managed four rehabilitation projects. Construction contracts were awarded to underserved contractors who are small business enterprises (sbe), minority business enterprises (mbe) and women business enterprises (wbe). In 2024, esndc's friendly storefronts program provided six grants for faqade improvements. The east community fund (ecf) is a community-based revolving program for underserved small businesses. In 2024, esndc issued four loans and ended the year with a portfolio of 8 loans. In may 2024 esndc launched the eastside technical assistance program (etap) that provides in-depth & individualized technical assistance to underserved businesses. By december 31st we assisted 14 business clients.

Community organizing & engagement - esndc founded, organized & funded the eastside black business network to support, inspire, educate and learn from each other about success and leadership in small business ownership. Through their collective experiences they formed a supportive network of black business leaders to foster economic growth, community collaboration, and entrepreneurial success while promoting property ownership and wealth building.in 2024, esndc partnered with latino economic development center and east side funders group to create the east side real estate development initiative.
