Key community outreach and education programs include:-advocacy: the food bank plays an important role in supporting government funded food assistance programs and urging elected officials to support and prioritize them. The government affairs team cultivates non-partisan relationship with our elected officials, educating them about the importance of food security, and encouraging food bank stakeholders to advocate for government funded food assistance programs.-community outreach and education: the food bank's community outreach and education team's goal is to utilize staff, board members, and volunteers to engage members of community groups, schools, universities, congregations, businesses and other affiliations in activities that raise awareness about the food bank's mission to leverage the power of community to achieve lasting solutions to hunger and its root causes.-volunteer program: volunteers are at the heart of our mission to leverage the power of community. From sorting food and building healthy food boxes for seniors to harvesting fresh produce from farms, the food bank thrives on the help of individuals, social groups, corporations and organizations of all types. In fy 2024, nearly 8,300 volunteers donated over 70,500 hours to serve our neighbors in a safe work environment.-marketing and communications: by utilizing multiple media platforms and strategies, the food bank has created incredible visibility and brand awareness, educating those in need of food assistance to the resources available and helping secure donations and volunteers.
