Program 1
Black bear research and education: the foundation is working with renowned black bear specialist ben kilham to research the behavior of black bears, and to educate the public about bears. Educating the public about bear behavior is critical in order to enhance cohabitation, reduce bear/human conflict and promote wildlife conservation.
Program 2
$180KCross country skiing: we had approximately 10,000 ski visits this year to our 50 kilometers of skate and classic cross-country ski trails that we groom and maintain. These trails are available to use by the public free of charge. The warming huts are supplied with water, hot chocolate and the fixings for smore's. We added a new scandic snowmobile and added tracks to our honda utv to help in grooming the cross-country ski trails. About three dozen sets of skis boots and poles were made available as free loaners to use while skiing on the foundation trails. These activities promote healthy outdoor activities during the winter months and educate the public about the benefits of connecting to nature.
