Programs & Activities
Program 1
$538KThe Children's Homes provided full-time care for 48 orphans in 6 independently operating households which include a House Parent for 12 to 15 children, one for children with special needs. This provides a nurturing family-type setting with safe, comfortable rooms, nourishing food (3 meals per day), clothing (including school uniforms), and emotional and spiritual care/support. There are three trained nurses who provide 24/7 specialized nursing care to each child and house moms provide care to these children, treating each one of them with the utmost dignity, respect, and love. This home provided 12 children with special needs and physical disabilities with care. These children are often discarded by their families and society.
Program 2
$454KThe School educated 370 students, preschool through Grade 13, including 33 children from the Children's Homes and nearby Ouanaminthe. The School has 17 classrooms and employs almost 40 Haitians, providing supplies, books, uniforms and medical care. A feeding program began in 2002 when children would come to school hungry, unable to focus. Curriculum follows Haiti's Ministry of Education and U.S. based strategies for analytical reasoning and problem-solving. Students learn 4 languages. The sports program allows students to compete in sports such as soccer and volleyball. Since 2014, 97 students out of 98 have graduated High School and received support and guidance through the Scholarship Program with 15 attending college/vocational school in Haiti and 4 attending college in the U.S.
Program 3
$221KApproximately 500 people from the community attend Temple de l'Espoir, a church operated by the organization on its campus each week. The church hosts conferences and events open to the community for spiritual enrichment. The farm is located on 106 acres of land outside of Ouanaminthe. The farming project currently consists of peanuts, sugar cane, pineapple, banana trees, plantain trees and yuca plants. The next phase is developing a goat and chicken farm. The goal of this program is to become more self-sustainable. This project will supplement our feeding program, ensuring that we can provide nutritious food for the children who come to us for help.
