JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER OF GREATER

Senior adult: the heritage center has created a gathering place for senior adults age 55 and older. The center operates a five-day-a-week program offering a multitude of programs and classes. From art classes to holiday celebrations, the heritage center caters to all interests. The mission of the heritage center of the jewish community center is to encourage senior adults age sixty-five and older to participate in educational, cultural, spiritual, fitness and social programs in order to decrease the potential for isolation and to increase connection to the jewish community. The focus of the program is on self-determination and self-direction in order to promote independence.

Arts & culture: the arts & culture department unites art, community and culture through creative engagement, education and enlightenment; a vibrant and inclusive hub reflecting jewish culture, values and heritage. Our programming will inspire patrons to dream, discover, create and celebrate.

Day camps: provides children with a summer full of exciting opportunities plus wonderful traditions. Together, campers, staff and families create a summer filled with great times and great memories. Children need a camp where they can be creative, learn leadership, develop teamwork, explore and discover, express themselves, learn new skills, develop lasting friendships, make choices and decisions and have fun. We believe in the power of camp to make a difference in the lives of our children and our community. We believe the success of summer camp is measured primarily by the levels of self esteem, appreciation of values and traditions, and sense of belonging demonstrated by each camper. Camp is for children pre-k through 8th grade, including sports, theatre, community service, and fine arts camps. In the summer of 2024, 863 children participated in camp.

Children & youth: the jewish community center's youth services department works diligently to provide a safe, secure and healthy environment in which parents and care-takers work together to encourage each child to reach his/her full potential. This goal is achieved by offering educationally sound and age-appropriate programs, while also working to instill values and traditions of jewish faith in our children. All of our children's activities are specially designed by experts in childhood education to create well-rounded children who are encouraged to pursue their own interests. The youth services department of the center embraces children of all ages through a variety of activities. For fiscal year ending 9/30/24, 110 children participated in the after school care program.

Adult education: the jewish community center's department of jewish experiences, in collaboration with jewish federation, offers a range of formal and informal learning opportunities that enable adults to become confident and comfortable jewish learners. The adult jewish learning programs are available without membership to the j and include melton, iyun, day of discovery, and others.
