JOE BARNHART FOUNDATION

Joe barnhart high school educational programthe foundation staffs an education program to encourage and assist students at a.c. Jones high school in beeville, texas, in evaluating their college potential, applying to appropriate colleges for admission, and applying for financial aid. For college expenses not fundable from other resources, the foundation provides need-based scholarships. The program operates in space provided by bisd in the high school with a full-time staff of five, plus about 40 adult volunteers. Over 100 seniors participate in the program each year (about one-half of all students) and the broader educational efforts of the staff affect all students (about 1,000) in the high school.

Scholarshipsthe foundation annually awards a four-year scholarship to one academically outstanding student at a.c. Jones high school in beeville from a group of four selected by the faculty and administration. Needs scholarships are awarded to students from a.c. Jones high school participating in the barnhart education program. The foundation also awards several two-year scholarships to outstanding graduates of coastal bend college, beeville (a junior college) from a small group recommended by the school. These scholarships are for the final two years of college.
