Knight media forum: the knight media forum is the premier gathering for funders and media leaders working to strengthen local news, community, and democracy. Over the past eighteen years, the convening has evolved into a dynamic, 1,000-person conference that brings together experts, civic innovators, philanthropic funders, journalists, scholars, industry leaders, and government officials to explore how we can cultivate self-determination and a shared sense of community. Through thoughtful dialogue and collaboration, the forum sparks new ideas, inspires decisive action, and lays the groundwork for lasting change.

Knight's informed conference elevates the insights from a growing field of scholarship that advance the common good. Access to the conference was broadly available via live stream.

Grants expenditure monitoring: consistent with its commitment to developing grantee organizational capacity and promoting the use of best practices in the field, knight foundation performed several grant expenditure monitoring evaluations on our grantees. These evaluations are performed by outside consultants who examine the grantee's administrative operations, internal controls and programmatic activities by following a sample of grant expenditures through the grantee's expenditure cycle. The foundation provides the grantee with a report detailing the consultant's observations and recommendations for improvements.
