$167KJUST STRATEGY CAMPAIGNS: 1. Public transit is essential to communities, local economies, and the lives of millions of people across the country. Essential workers depend on and operate transit; businesses, both large and small depend on transit; historically marginalized communities depend on transit. Transit is a key component of a more environmentally sustainable society and is the road to equity for disenfranchised communities, both rural, urban, and suburban. Just Strategy worked with Rep. Johnsons to build 150 co-sponsors for the Stronger Communities Through Better Transit Act to establish a federal operations funding program. In addition, Just Strategy mobilized to support public transit by: -Collected 1,358 "What Transit Means to Me" stories collected for Sen.Fetterman -7,784 direct messages to U.S. House Representatives, building co-sponsors and support for the Stronger Communities Through Better Transit Act -13,397 direct messages to U.S. Senators and House Reps, building co-sponsors and support for the GREEN Streets Act -36,937 direct messages to the Governor of all 50 states calling for setting ambitious goals in the implementation of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Rule -4,282 direct messages to California Governor Gavin Newsom, urging him to reverse course and unfreeze transit funding already approved by the state legislature -334 "Why Public Transit is Essential" stories collected to share with members of Congress -7,243 signers urging Senate THUD Appropriations Chairman Schatz and Ranking Member Hyde-Smith to lead the committee to reject the House bill and fully fund commitments Congress made in the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act -5,267 direct messages urging Governor Newsom to live up to his pledge and fund projects that reduce pollution, traffic, and the harm from climate change. 2.The Communities for College campaign organized community college students, faculty, staff, and labor allies to advocate for broader equity in higher education and workforce access. One key state-level legislative achievement was the passage of House Bill 1889 in 2024, which ensures that individuals-regardless of immigration or citizenship status-can obtain professional and commercial licenses in Washington State as long as they meet all other requirements, promoting equitable access to economic opportunities and inclusion in the workforce. C4C packed hearing rooms, coordinated student testimony, and educated legislators, sending student stories to them three times a week.
