This work included a summit with over 80 policy makers; policy briefings and round table discussions throughout the year.advocating and advancing policy for breastfeeding support in kansas ($39,614 in expenses) - to develop sustainable breastfeeding support for families by advocating and integrating policy work with equity at the center.statewide breastfeeding conference ($30,908 in expenses, $39,510 in revenues) - a two-day in person conference to provide clinical lactation education as well as community engagement strategies to improve policies, systems, and environments to better support breastfeeding families. 221 individuals participated in the conference in october 2024.building a culture of breastfeeding support ($25,123 in expenses) - to provide technical assistance to four communities with low breastfeeding rates to implement a community-driven initiative to address barriers to breastfeeding and increase breastfeeding rates.mid-west region wic trainings ($22,361 in expenses, $25,420 in revenues) - to provide breastfeeding education to wic staff in the mid-west region using the usda wic breastfeeding curriculum. 224 individuals completed the trainings.lactation billing manual ($17,793 in expenses) - to create a lactation billing manual to help hospitals, clinics, and local health departments bill insurance and state medicaid agencies for lactation services.consulting ($16,974 in expenses, $25,000 in revenues) - to provide technical assistance to organizations outside of kansas to implement programs and tools developed and/or implemented by the kbc.lactation education grants and training program ($7,410 in expenses) (was named clinical lactation training program in 2023) - to provide educational grants and clinical placement opportunities to qualified lactation students across kansas to increase the number and diversity of highly skilled lactation support providers available to serve kansas families. Eleven (11) educational grants were awarded through an application process. A final narrative and financial report are required as a condition of the award.mini-grants to local breastfeeding coalitions ($7,300 in expenses) - four (4) mini-grants were awarded to local breastfeeding coalitions in kansas for projects to improve breastfeeding support in their communities.
