Education: the foundation celebrated the 12th annual science without borders challenge, inspiring 1,700 students from 82 countries to create art on the theme "hidden wonders of the deep," with winners' work showcased at the un world oceans day event aboard the peace boat. The jamaica awareness of mangroves in nature (j.a.m.i.n.) program marked its 10th anniversary, strengthened by longtime partner the uwi discovery bay marine lab and new partnerships with sea the change and playa hotels & resorts. Meanwhile, the bahamas awareness of mangroves (b.a.m.) program resumed in abaco with friends of the environment, engaging a new generation of students in mangrove conservation. Kslof advanced ocean literacy by developing the little creatures with a big message educator's guide on foraminifera, contributing to the ecosystems of the bahamas teacher's guide, and translating videos and the reefs at risk coloring book into multiple languages, broadening global access to inclusive ocean education.

Program 2

Communication: in 2024, the foundation advanced our mission by sharing our expertise in ocean conservation at major international events. We participated in two un conferences: cop29 in azerbaijan and cop16 in saudi arabia where we highlighted the role of coral reefs and mangroves in building climate resilience, launched the arabic version of our reefs at risk activity & coloring book, and showcased artwork from our science without borders challenge. We also took part in the fourth foundations dialogue in brazil, joining over 30 philanthropic organizations to align efforts for the un ocean decade. As an active member of the international union for the conservation of nature (iucn), we contributed to the u.s. Annual meeting and regional conservation forum, while serving on subcommittees and editorial boards to strengthen communication and collaboration across the conservation community.

Program 3

Science: in 2024, the foundation advanced marine science and global partnerships to address urgent threats to coral reefs. Collaborations with the university of miami produced landmark studies using gre data to link habitat and species diversity, while work with scripps improved coralnet's automation of reef photo analysis, achieving over 90% accuracy. The foundation collaborated with the pacific blue foundation in refining reef monitoring protocols in fiji and partnered with nasa's marineverse to produce high-resolution habitat maps. As a new member of cordap's governance committee, kslof helped guide global priorities for reef restoration. Strategic partnerships expanded with the saudi red sea authority, while participation in high-level forums, from the chagos mpa planning in mauritius to the un sea level rise meeting, reinforced kslof's leadership in conservation science. These efforts underscore kslof's commitment to safeguarding coral reefs for future generations.
