KIRKPATRICK FOUNDATION INC

Safe & humane is kirkpatrick foundation's twenty-year initiative to make oklahoma the safest and most humane place to be an animal by the year 2032. The foundation's approach is to convene, honor, promote, fund, research, and publish efforts to improve the lives of oklahoma animals and the people who care for them. The foundation believes that by minimizing animal suffering and elevating the standards of care, treatment, and welfare for all oklahoma animals, the condition of all oklahoma citizens will be greatly improved. A key element of the safe & humane initiative is the triennial animal conference (held in 2015, 2018, 2021, and 2024).

Red ridge nature preserve is land parcel of 133 acres. Its mission will be to be preserve and protect the land's delicate ecosystem and historic structures. Preliminary plans involve a renovation of red ridge manor and the other two houses, windy hill and preacher's wall. Ultimately, the land will serve as a place of rest, rejuvenation, and contemplation for the benefit of oklahoma city residents, visitors, and wildlife.

In 2024, kirkpatrick foundation awarded the inaugural kirkpatrick medal to people in the oklahoma community who represent the six areas of focus of the foundation - arts, culture, education, animal well being, environmental conservation, and historic preservation. This award is inspired by co-founder eleanor kirkpatrick and her daughter joan kirkpatrick and is an expansion of the kirkpatrick honor for animal wellbeing.
