Programs & Activities
Program 1
$69KSupporting aspiring professional journalists - in 2024, the klcc public radio foundation successfully reinstated its journalism fellowship program, hiring a dedicated full-time reporter in february. This program provides a recent college graduate with intensive, hands-on experience as a multii- media journalist. The fellow's primary responsibility is to cover under- served communities in our region, ensuring vital stories are told while the fellow gains valuable professional experience. The fellow is a foundation employee, compensated equitably to klcc reporters, and supervised directely by the klcc news director.
Program 2
Ensuring program sustainability and modernization - to guarantee the longevity and continuous delivery of klcc's core public service mission, the foundation focused on key finanical and capital investments that secure the future of news and public affairs programming. Program sustainability: the foundation is strategically building financial reserves and assets to ensure the long-term stability and growth of its news departments. Critically, these reserves are planned for use over the next three years to help cover staff salaries, thereby guaranteeing the continuity of quality journalism that strengthens our communities. Furthermore, the foundation maintains and invests resources to generate future income, ensuring dedicated funding streams for subsequent programming needs. Modernized technology:the foundation continued to raise and invest funds through the "amplifying oregon voices" campaign for critical infrastructure and technology upgrades. Maintaining a technologically advanced multimedia studio is crucial to equipping klcc to deliver exceptional service to oregonians via a variety of platforms including video. These capital campaign funds are held and invested at the foundation, with planned equipment and facility upgrades scheduled for use in 2026.
