Christopher connolly at washington state university (wsu) and their hipaa certified data vault and global tri safety.org website.all of the medical encounter forms from the ironman kona world championships, 1985 through the present are entered into the hiller database at wsu. We believe that this currently the largest such data set in the world.four scholarly papers have been submitted for publication so far, and several more are in the works.we had a research project at ironman in 2023 concerning covid and athletes which has a publication pending.we are collaborating with world triathlon and have initiated a working relationship with world athletics to pursue studies on heat strokes in endurance sports. Heat stroke is one of the most common causes of death in these sports, and much remains to be learned.we are planning to have research projects at the ironman world championship this year as well.
