Program 1
$9.0MAcquired and maintained the operating assets of a science, engineering, and technology library with a 14-acre arboretum. A total of 17,304 patrons visited the Library and an estimated 70,000 patrons visited the arboretum. The Library's website attracted approximately 600,000 visitors. The Library acquired over 3,500 monographs and approximately 150 rare books during 2024. More than 75,000 items from the Library's collection were utilized in 2024 both by in-person and online patrons. A total of $8,998,672 was expended in 2024 in support of this program.
Program 2
$984KThe Library partnered with the Linda Hall Library Foundation to produce a total of ninety-four educational lectures and public programs that attracted 17,308 in-person attendees and 455,909 views on the Organization's YouTube channel. Those activities included: i. Free public exhibitions at the Linda Hall Library including Chained to the Sky and Life Beyond Earth. ii. Free public programs ranging from panel discussions, lectures, and activities that were presented both in person and virtually. iii. The Kansas City Invention Convention competition for students from middle and high schools throughout the region. Nearly 350 young inventors participated in the competition in 2024. iv. How do I become? A STEM program designed to introduce high school and early college students through panel discussion with young professionals in STEM careers.
Program 3
$215KThe Library hosted twenty-eight research fellows in 2024 in partnership with the Linda Hall Library Foundation. Fellows are selected through a competitive application process utilizing an independent selection committee. Fellowships range from one week to four months and utilize the Library's collection to support the production of original thought and research on the topics of science, engineering, and technology.
