We are proud to report a 100% success rate, defeating every attempt to weaken our pro-life laws and passing every bill that was a part of our pro-mom and pro-baby legislative package. We are proud of the important work accomplished and thankful for every pro-life citizen who took their time to contact their legislator to support our legislative priorities.we led the passage of the following legislation at the state capitol: the louisiana pregnancy and baby care initiative act by senator katrina and representative jack mcfarland establishes a new support program for women facing unplanned pregnancies and offers a full range of services including pregnancy support, parenting help, and adoption assistance. It provides pregnancy resource centers continue their efforts to provide boots-on-the-ground assistance to women who may otherwise consider abortion as their only option. Abortion by fraud criminalization act by senator thomas pressly makes it a crime to poison a woman with abortion-inducing drugs against her will or without her knowledge. The law also takes steps to keep abortion pills out of the hands of predators and abusers by making them controlled substances. Finally, the law makes abortion pill crimes racketeering offenses giving law enforcement more tools for reaching the networks of illegal abortion pill providers. The compatible with love empowerment act by senator rick edmonds updates existing law to ensure that parents whose unborn children are diagnosed with a fetal genetic anomaly can receive information to assist them in caring for their child before and after birth. The adoption awareness act by senator rick edmonds creates a new program that promotes the benefits of infant adoption. This program will educate louisiana citizens on adoption options and the benefits of infant adoption to birth mothers, babies, and adoptive families. We supported the safe haven baby box expansion act representative chenevert and senator bass to allow for the installment of safe haven baby boxes in certain facilities in addition to hospitals. Safe haven baby boxes are a last resort option for a mother to safely place her newborn baby for adoption. Louisiana right to life also defeated pro-abortion legislation, especially a pro-abortion proposed constitutional amendment, that would have legalized abortion. In addition, louisiana right to life worked to protect human embryos endangered by some legislation. Louisiana right to life continued to be a regular participant in local and national media through interviews and other engagements. In february, alexandra seghers, louisiana right to life's director of education, penned a letter to the editor sharing that abortion is inconsistent with a pro-woman ethic.in march, benjamin clapper, louisiana right to life's executive director, attended the u.s. State of the union address at the invitation of u.s. Senator bill cassidy. Clapper appeared with senator cassidy in media interviews on the importance of pro-life policy.louisiana right to life shares the beauty of life at the state fair of louisiana in shreveport. Lartl staffed and facilitated a group of volunteers from october 26th-november 12th and had at least 500 plus people stop by our booth to pick up materialslouisiana right to life continued to be a regular participant in local and national media. Through publishing voting records of incumbents and providing questionnaire responses of new candidates, louisiana right to life provided an invaluable service to louisiana citizens by providing consistent and reliable information on the pro-life positions of candidates for office.
