Programs & Activities

Program 1

Several of the activities were to support programs of major universities and other nonprofits in the area of stuttering, speech pathology and basic research on stuttering. The specific uses of the grants were outlined in proposals received from each institution and were not specified by the foundation other than the general requirement that the funds were to be used to support activities regarding stuttering and speech pathology. The programs included therapy for people who stutter and instruction for speech language pathology students, including fellowships for doctoral degree candidates. Some of the funds were used by the universities to set up family counseling programs to help children who stutter. In many communities across the country, these university clinics provide a unique service. They also serve to provide a teaching base for the students. Some of the funds were used for basic research regarding stuttering.

Program 2

$21K

The foundation also made contributions to other exempt organizations for educational, scientific, religious, conservation, animal welfare, and general charitable purposes. Those contributions are also listed on the schedule attached to part xv.
