Shelter Ministry Midland's Open Door provides two shelters, one for men and one for women and children. Our men's shelter provides 19 beds, with the capacity for 23, and our women and children's shelter provides 28 beds, with the capacity for 31. Each guest is assisted with food, shelter, clothing, and personalized case management, providing support and coordination with local social service agencies, other Christian ministries, and local churches with the goal to move toward long-term stability. The guests each have access to a telephone, a computer with internet capabilities for job searching, and transportation assistance. Financial assistance for medical co-pays, prescriptions, birth certificates, drivers licenses, and employment needs (i.e. uniforms) is also available based on need and availability of funding.

Program 2

$461K

Clothing Shed Midland's Open Door operates a clothing ministry to provide emergency clothing assistance for men, women, and children. Clothing is available for our shelter guests 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Assistance is also available to the public for emergency needs on a one-on-one appointment basis. Most of the clothing provided is donated by the community. There are times where clothing has to be purchased based on the immediate need and specific sizes are not currently available.

Program 3

Community Outreach Midland's Open Door provides assistance for community guests. Needs include homeless prevention services, job search assistance, and referrals for community assistance. In addition, Midland's Open Door partners with other shelters, soup kitchens, and food distribution organizations to alleviate food insecurity by relocating excess donations to where they can immediately be used most effectively. Clothing donations that are beyond the Open Door's ability to timely distribute are also redirected to other organizations within Michigan.
