MINNEAPOLIS LEAGUE OF CATHOLIC

League members volunteer as tutors and in other capacities at risen christ catholic school, either once/week or several hours/day. Members also volunteer in the library of st. Pope john paul ii school, having resurrected it from non-usable to highly efficient. Both schools serve children living in poverty. The league's by your side program mentors impoverished single adults who have children and are trying to earn a degree. To help improve childhood literacy, the mitten drive,in partnership with northside childhood development center, provides more than 100 books/year for children living in poverty. On behalf of the league, members personally donate clothing and baby items to an area crisis pregnancy resource center, and "comfort kits" containing personal grooming needs and target, cub and mcdonalds gift cards for distribution to homeless men and women. The league's programs for members feature awareness of societal injustices and opportunities for personal enrichment. A prayer line provides spiritual support for members and others. Other than computer support for st. Pope john paul ii school, and a lenten retreat, all volunteer programs and ministries were suspended due to covid.
