The hank aaron invitational ("hai") is an amateur development event that serves as a youth-oriented, on-field diversity initiative that aims to get high school-age players, with diverse backgrounds, to the next levels of the game. The hai was held in july at the jackie robinson training complex in vero beach, florida and approximately 250 players (ages 13-18) from across the united states received elite-level training from former major league players and coaches. The HBCU Swingman Classic presented by T-Mobile & powered by the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation (YDF) is an annual All-Star experience for baseball student-athletes from Division-I programs at Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU). The HBCU Swingman Classic highlights the history and legacy of HBCU baseball programs while also provides 50 HBCU players with the opportunity to showcase their talent on a national stage. The student-athletes are selected by a committee that includes YDF Ambassador & Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. alongside representatives from MLB and MLBPA, as well as scouts.
