NM Bodecker Creative Foundation

Youth Mentorships: The Bodecker Foundations headquarters at 2360 NW Quimby Street in Portland, Oregon, served as the home for our 2024 Skill Building Cohorts, a mentorship program designed to inspire creativity, confidence, and community among young people. Offered in both hybrid and in-person formats, the program connected students with professional artists, musicians, and writers through hands-on learning in visual arts, audio engineering, and creative writing. Across two separate sessions, one from January to May with 28 students and another from October to December with 34 new participants, the program supported a total of 62 high school students throughout the year. Each cohort provided a supportive, inclusive environment where students, many from low-income backgrounds, could explore creative disciplines, build meaningful relationships, and grow their artistic voices. Community Engagement and Events: The Bodecker Foundation provides creative communities with an extraordinary and energetic space for workshops, mentoring, and collaboration. Community events at 2360 NW Quimby Street in Portland, Oregon include film screenings, panel conversations, gallery shows, youth centered events, summer film series, field trips and community events for Portland Public School students and Youth Builders. Additionally, the Foundation makes its spaces available for use by like-minded arts and non-profit organizations for their own fundraising events, trainings, board meetings, and staff planning sessions.

Artists and Musicians in Residence:The Bodecker Foundations headquarters at 2360 NW Quimby Street in Portland, Oregon includes well-appointed creative spaces reserved exclusively for Artists and Musicians in Residence. Artists in Residence are invited to work out of the Foundation for a designated period of time while they focus on developing specific creative output. Residencies may include use of Halfling Studio, our on-site, state-of-the-art recording studio, along with engineering and production support. In exchange, Artists and Musicians in Residence strengthen our collaborative community during their time with us by leading a youth focused workshop, panel, and/or salon event for adult community members. In 2024, we provided residencies primarily to artists, musicians, composers and filmmakers including David J (Bauhaus), performers and dancers in partnership with Third Angle New Music (3A), writer Deborah Stoll, Sam Hamilton for their performance of Te Moana Meridan, artist Delba
