- public & professional education services -the community education and engagement department's mission is to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes by increasing communities' access to medically accurate, culturally relevant sexual and reproductive health education, information, and resources.during july 1, 2023 - june 30, 2024, community education and engagement programs reached 26,905 youth and adults across iowa and nebraska. Educators facilitated 878 presentations on sexual and reproductive health topics (e.g. Healthy relationships, birth control, sexually transmitted infections, and communication skills) to 4,777 participants in community- and school-based settings. In addition, 13,898 people were reached at health fairs and community events.

- public affairs -public affairs staff in nebraska engaged volunteers in over 1,200 hours of outreach, advocacy and engagement activities at health centers, on college campuses, and in the community. A new volunteer effort this year was collecting signatures for a constitutional amendment in nebraska to protect abortion until fetal viability. Nebraska public affairs staff and supporters were involved in this effort througout fy24. In iowa, public affairs staff and volunteers executed an extensive response to the unprecedented single-day special session of the legislature for the sole purpose of passing a near-total abortion ban. As a result, staff engaged volunteers in over 9,000 hours of outreach and advocacy. This statewide effort to increase support for sexual and reproductive health reached nearly 94,000 supporters in fy24. This effort included using targeted digital communications, engaging new college campuses, and shifting back to in-person supporter engagement.also, in fy24, our generation action programs were further strengthened following the pandemic. We worked with students on four campuses in nebraska where student-led groups prioritized voter registration and information about the abortion ballot initiative; handing out safer sex kits; and building a campus community of advocates for srh. While our staff provide resources and guidance to student organizers, our goal is to support the students in executing their vision for the group. Iowa public affairs staff expanded latine outreach efforts via the raiz program. Programmatic work included collaboration with latine-specific organizations, continuing well-being workshops with allied partners, and tabling at events with volunteers like the latino festival in des moines.the nebraska raiz program continued in fy24 with the goal of building trust with latine communities to ensure that our policy advocacy, community engagement, and power building goals and events are relevant to the needs and interest of latine and spanish-speaking community members in nebraska. In fy24, our raiz program tabled at 4 latine-centered events, such as cinco de mayo and chingona fest, to educate the latine and spanish speaking communities about the services planned parenthood provides. At these events, we signed up over 125 new program supporters.staff in iowa and nebraska continue to engage patient storytellers through the health center advocacy program, both through health center advocacy tables in four health centers in iowa and two in nebraska that allow patients to sign up to participate in various advocacy and educational programming and through the speakers bureau program. Iowa public affairs staff trained new patient advocates as storytellers and cultivated existing storytellers through community care events. Youth engagement surged in generation action student groups on five active campuses. The generation action programs worked with students on four campuses in nebraska where student-led groups prioritized voter registration and information about the abortion ballot initiative; handing out safer sex kits; and building a campus community of advocates for sexual and reproductive health. While our staff provide resources and guidance to student organizers, our goal is to support the students in executing their vision for the group.the iowa public affairs staff reached out to supporters and voters on national voter registration day and in the latine community via their raiz program.public affairs staff provided educational programming to over 100 community supporters in nebraska and 75 in iowa on how to talk to their state representatives and others about sexual and reproductive health care. In lincoln and omaha, public affairs staff continued to train supporters to volunteer as health center patient escorts at their respective health centers. A new patient escort program was launched in ames.
