Membership - the membership program supports rims' global community of risk professionals by driving member engagement, recruitment, and retention. It fosters professional growth through networking, education, and leadership development initiatives, while offering resources like career tools, surveys, and student programs to prepare the next generation of risk leaders.

Knowledge and learning - rims provides comprehensive learning and development programs, including student and member initiatives, professional communities, and a variety of educational formats such as courses, workshops, webinars, and certifications. These offerings focus on essential risk management skills and leadership development for all career levels.

Program 3

Publications - risk management magazine is rims' flagship publication and includes articles of interest to professionals responsible for risk and insurance management in business and industrial firms, public administration and government, insurance companies, agents and brokers, business services and others allied to the field. By providing in-depth analysis of the world of risk, risk management magazine is a vital source of pertinent information for risk professionals and those who engage with risk professionals. The digital magazine is published 12 times annually and is supported by an online site containing robust digital content and the risk management monitor blog, which offers daily coverage and analysis of the latest risk-related news and issues. Risk-wire, distributed twice per week, is an exclusive news service for rims members that provides an executive summary and links to the most important risk management stories of the day. Additional online resources that provide today's risk professionals with knowledge, tools and resources they need to be successful include the strategic & enterprise risk center and risk knowledge searchable content library which are available to both members and the general public. Additionally, this area encompasses rims strategic initiatives and enterprise risk practice which enlarges the value proposition for risk management as a strategic business discipline to encompass value creation and capture (the upside of uncertainty), as well as value protection (the downside of uncertainty). In leading new research and the development of innovative, yet pragmatic, strategic and operational risk practices that are applicable across all types of organizations, the practice's main objective is to drive incremental and recurring revenue streams for rims by broadening its membership and delivering specific products and services that provide unique and practical value for its current and new members. In 2021, rims brought its rims risk maturity model in house, enhancing the interactive model which focuses on the elements and characteristics considered important for maturing risk management capabilities. The model, built by risk professionals for risk professionals, was enhanced using rims subject matter experts and external software developers.

Program 4

Public policy (formerly external affairs) - this program encompasses government affairs, advocacy and external communications. Government affairs focuses on u.s. Federal, state and canadian federal and provincial legislative and regulatory issues that impact the risk management community and maintains a standing external affairs committee that is responsible for crafting rims position statements, composing letters to members of congress and establishing rims legislative priorities. The program conducts lobbying at all levels of government through an assortment of strategies, including the annual rims legislative summit, which brings risk professionals to washington, d.c. To further the agenda of the risk management community. The government affairs program maintains contact with its members throughout north america regarding all legislative development via the rims website, newsletters and e-mail alerts and offers resources on advocacy to members and nonmembers.

Program 5

Certification - rims offers the only competency-based risk management credential, an accredited rims-crmp certification that validates performance ability, technical knowledge and commitment to risk management quality standards. It represents the standard of education, experience and ethics that discipline requires and allows certification holders to demonstrate their knowledge, competitive advantage and commitment to quality and ethics. Rims also administers the canadian risk management (crm) designation, a credential recognized across both public and private sectors. This designation provides risk professionals with foundational competencies in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating risk. It is regarded as a key contributor to professional credibility and career advancement within the risk management field.
