In september 2024, the rivkin center hosted the 15th biennial ovarian cancer research symposium, bringing together nearly 250 researchers and clinicians from 11 countries who came to learn about the latest in ovarian cancer research. The event hosted a session with patient advocates; scientific sessions covered the biology of ovarian cancer, prevention, early detection, & interception, emerging therapeutics, novel immunotherapies, and healthcare disparities. On april 30, 2024, the rivkin center ended its education program focused on ovarian and breast cancer education and returned to a sole focus on ovarian cancer - both research grants and better support for those diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the pacific northwest. From january to march 2024 the education team supported 15 college-campus workshops and eight puget sound community workshops. Community workshops were held in coordination with mercy housing, mary's place, familyworks, washington rhinestone club, seattle jewish festival and herzl ner tamid and reached primarily participants who belong to historically under-resourced/underrepresented groups.
