ROOTS AND ALL THEATRE ENSEMBLE

Ritual Treatment - "Ritual Treatment" was a surreal bilingual piece of dance theatre about a queer Latina teen working through trauma from growing up with domestic violence and entering into a series of abusive relationships. It broke stigmas around mental illness by cultivating empathy and dismantling taboos. It served as a catalyst for healing for survivors and a cautionary tale of the ways we trap ourselves in cycles of violence even where we think we are safe. Roots and All Theatre Ensemble offered five weekends of three performances each in July and August 2023 for pay what you will prices. Both physical and digital outreach in English and Spanish was distributed at schools community spaces parks libraries and mental health centers. Outreach specifically targeted lower income districts LGBTQ centers and areas with a high concentration of communities of color.
