Greenhouses. The greenhouse setup is a core component of regenerative farming in a northern climate. These require ongoing maintenance both of the physical structure, the irrigation setup, and plant management. This project overlaps greatly with ongoing regenerative practice (for example, we buy seeds for both projects, irrigation is used for both projects, etc.)

Animal care. Regenerative farming generally requires animals on-site. This means year round access to the property, animal feed, and ongoing care. There is an overlap with regenerative farming practice (for instance, both the gardens and the animals need hay.)

Ongoing regenerative farming practice. This includes working with the farm using organic and biodynamic means and a holistic perspective. A regenerative farming approach generally means that animals must be part of the holistic farm vision. Every season, the orchard and food-growing spaces require daily to weekly maintenance, depending on the cycle of the year. In the late winter, seeds are started indoors. Animals are cared for throughout the winter, and snow must be managed. In the spring, growing beds are cleared, prepared for planting, and then planted, either with seed or seedlings started earlier. In summer, the plants need to be tended, watered, weeded, harvested, and pruned. In late summer to fall the plants are harvested, garden spaces are again cleared and cleaned of excess plant matter, and weed cover or a cover crop is planted for the winter. This year, we did a lot of blueberry field maintenance (removing small trees before they get big.)
