Programs & Activities
Program 1
$497KOpen reaction database: the open reaction database (ord) is a collaborative, open data initiative to support the structuring and sharing of organic reaction data. This project provides critical support to increase the adoption and impact of ord through personnel, data curation, targeted data generation, and reducing barriers to contribution. This project increases awareness and adoption of ord, leading to increased data sharing and cross-institutional collaboration in both data generation and model-driven reaction optimization. The ord project saw significant engagement with global research labs, expanding its reach and growing its database with tens of thousands of new data points. The ord also increased community engagement and was showcased at key conferences.
Program 2
$225KProbabilistic programming: the team strives to make advancements in ai that understands the world like people do, via probabilistic programming. To advance this mission, the probabilistic programming team makes contributions in the form of software code, planning, and strategy to various open-sourced technologies, including genjax and inferenceql which are components of opengen. Additionally, the team supported the creation of guides and documentation in support of the open-source ecosystem and development community.
Program 3
$127KMsep: this project supports the development of the molecular systems engineering platform (msep). Msep is a free, open-source tool being developed to advance atomically precise manufacturing (apm) with applications in medicine, computing, and renewable energy. The development team completed key milestones for msep.one, including finalizing the initial feature set, improving integration of computational chemistry tools, and producing a stable version for download. The website (https://msep.one) was launched, and a successful launch event was held to introduce the platform.
Program 4
$55KAi for materials science: the focus of this project is to design an initiative that will use ai to accelerate progress in materials science using an approach called "electronic structure by design." this could dramatically reduce the time and cost associated with discovering new materials with novel and useful properties. For example, high-temperate superconductors would increase the efficiency of the power grid, and advances in thermoelectric materials would allow us to turn waste heat into electricity.
Program 5
$23KOuter ring: the project supports the launch of outer ring. Outer ring will provide funding and incubation services for organizations doing work in support of a safe, stable, and shared future with advanced artificial intelligence. It will support projects in the non-technical realms of governance, communications, and law, as well as technical projects such as evaluations, standard-setting, and alignment research.
Program 6
$14KNuclear electric propulsion: the project supports the advancement of nuclear electric propulsion (nep) technology for by increasing collaboration between various stakeholders in the space (e.g., government institutions, universities, private and public research organizations).
