$660KUnder its crime victims grants, sewa-aifw continued to strengthen its trauma-informed, culturally specific advocacy for south asian survivors of domestic and sexual violence. In 2024, the organization supported victims through direct assistance, crisis intervention, safety planning, legal advocacy, and referrals. Sewa recorded 7,601 interactions with victims and survivors, responded to 1,817 crisis calls, facilitated 310 client referrals, and conducted 12 staff trainings to enhance service quality. Additional support included emergency meals, transportation, donated goods, and over 340 legal filings and court preparations. Sewa also expanded community engagement through outreach events, peer support circles, and participation in cultural and wellness-based initiatives.
Program 2
$607KSewa-aifws senior, youth, and community engagement programs continued to foster wellness, cultural connection, and social support throughout 2024. Senior programs included weekly social gatherings, care calls, dementia support, transportation assistance, and nutrition education, serving 2,208 senior participants and completing 884 care calls. Nutrition initiatives delivered 5,613 meals and 251 grocery packages. Youth efforts engaged 87 participants through educational workshops and two new episodes of the life without limca podcast. Community outreach reached over 1,302 event attendees and 2,725 individuals through awareness campaigns, including participation in the desi pride parade and culturally focused wellness activities. These programs collectively strengthened community ties and supported overall well-being for families across minnesota.
