$6.4MPublications - SPIE helps the scientist authors publish their work via Publications and Journals. The technical publications include: books, Journals, conference proceedings, CD-ROMs and website products. Proceedings of the conference are technical publications that educate the engineering community about current technology, research and applications. Website links allow access to products and services used by scientists and engineers. Approximately 6,800 hardcopy books were shipped in 2024. SPIE is also the publisher of 15 technical journals: Optical Engineering, Journal of Biomedical Optics, Journal of Micro/Nano Lithography, MEMS and MOEMS, Journal of Nanophotonics, Journal of Applied Remote Sensing, Journal of Photonics for Energy, Journal of Astronomy Telescopes, Journal of Medical Imaging, Journal of Neurophotonics, Journal of Advanced Photonics and Journal of Optical Microsystems, Journal of Advanced Photonics Nexus, Journal of photonics Insights and Bios Journal. SPIE is also a Co-publisher of Journal of Electronic Imaging with Society for Imaging Science and Technology. Total circulation of journals during 2024 was 30,000 subscriptions, print and online.

$3.8MEducation - SPIE awarded 80 education scholarships and 14 grants to support education outreach, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and International Day of Light events and activities. More than 6,000 outreach posters were distributed, and over 12,000 Women in Optics notebooks were printed and distributed. 25 career advancement events were held, including webinars, in-person workshops, and networking and mentoring socials, serving over 1,000 attendees. SPIE also presented 113 in-person short courses at 7 events, 2 in-company training sessions, and issued 1,340 Certificates of Completion. SPIE also held 5 instructional webinars and offers 38 on-demand online courses.

$2.1MMembership - In 2024 SPIE provided support to attend conferences to 396 student authors, and activity grants for 156 student chapter groups. As part of our membership program, SPIE also provides reduced dues for students and members from developing nations.
