SOUTHEAST ASIAN MUTUAL ASSISTANCE

The hunger relief department operates a food pantry that is open weekly from monday-wednesday from 10am-2pm, and a weekly grocery delivery service for elderly and homebound individuals on thursdays. The hunger relief team regularly serves over 1,300 households at the food pantry and delivers over 200 bags of groceries weekly. Seamaac's hunger relief program prioritizes the distribution of fresh, nutritious, and foods to combat diet-related health issues.

The comunity development department aims to build community connectedness, and prosperity by improving and implementing the physical environment in south philadelphia. The community development department meets these goals through community engagement, strengthening business and shopping on 7th street, connecting to economic opportunities, preserving affordable housing, and ensuring that current residents are integral in the development and benefit from it. The community development department has 5 core programs: 1) civic engagement, 2) mifflin square park redevelopment, 3) environmental issues, 4) growing homes gardens, and the south 7th st corridor management. Our department' s programs build local capacity and community stewardship of public spaces. The program strives to establish a strong neighborhood coalition with an emphasis on supporting local businesses on the commercial corridor to strengthen the neighborhood as a safe, and welcoming place to live, work, and play.
