THE CAMARGO FOUNDATION

The camargo foundation, founded by artist and philanthropist jerome hill and located in cassis, france, is a residential center. It provides time and space for artists, scholars, scientists and thinkers to think, create, and connect. The foundation's campus includes twelve furnished apartments, a library, an open-air theater, an artist's studio with darkroom and a composer's studio. The principal instrument for pursuing this mission is the camargo fellowship program, which offers residencies to seven artists and seven scholars & thinkers,for up 10 weeks each fall and spring. The camargo fellowship receives around 1000 applications every year. The foundation welcomes individuals including artists in any discipline and scholars & thinkers, including both advanced students and faculty from any country whose area of investigation embraces humanities in general, including crosscultural studies that engage the cultures and influences of the mediterranean region.
