Skywood Food Forest maintained a high level of productivity this year despite some difficult weather conditions for some plantings. Once again new varieties became available for donation to both the Bellingham Food Bank and Birchwood Food Desert Fighters non-profits. In the fall several new fruit tree varieties were planted as well as plants to increase the pollinator population. Efforts to increase native pollinating bees are paying off such that Skywood has been able to donate pollinators to other local gardens and help educate people on the care of native bees. In addition numerous educational tours were conducted and we were active in a local seed-saving effort producing seeds adapted and selected for local growing conditions.

Teaching Tutoring and Education: Kara Black taught English to adults through Whatcom Community College inclouding tutoring of small groups and individuals in and out of the classroom. She offered no-fee private tutoring in English to several adults.
