And later assigned to the national park service when the green springs national historic landmark was created. During this reporting period, the foundations's efforts extended beyond the costs of land and historic structure preservation, maintneance, and improvement. A major renovation commenced on the depot house, a structure orginally built as the cobham railway station depot. It was dismantled, moved, and reconstructed on bracketts farm in the 1920's. Additionally, the process of renovating the historic pony barn was initiated, with the goal of transforming it into a future visitors and education center complete with restroom facilities. $414The foundation offers a variety of educational programs to louisa county residents and vistiors, including local schools and scouting groups. These programs encompass the development of informational materials about brackett's farm, louisa county's history and the green springs national historic landmark district, as well as seminars, study programs, walking tours, and more. During this reporting period, bracketts hosted 16 events or programs for children and adults, which were attended by approximately 466 people.

$1KOutdoor recreation. The foundation has created a 1.6 mile-long nature and heritage walking trail loop. The trail begins in the woods alongside nolting pond, crosses an open field, and returns to the starting point along the historic main driveway(sometimes known as cedar lane). It passes significant historical features, including the ice pond, tobacco barn, and the main gardens. Museum-quality signs provide historical context for these sites, and tree identification signs are installed throughout the route. Benches are available along the trail for rest and nature observations, and a portable restroom is provided for visitor convenience. Nolting pond is a renowned birding location and is also open to the public for free fishing. Though registration is not required for users, making exact numbers difficult to ascertain,it is estimated, with assistance from self reporting visitor apps, that the site hosted over 4,000 visits for outdoor recreation during the last reporting period. $684The foundations's community impact is significntly bolstered by the brackett's farm charitable garden, a project launched in 2010. With sustantial help from the louisa county cooperative extension master garderners(mg), the garden produces fresh vegetables that are donated to the louisa county resource council, a 501(c)(3) public agency. The council distributes this produce and other donated food items to louisa county residents with food insecurity. The success of the garden relies on the dedication of volunteers. This reporting period saw approximatley 840 volunteer hours logged by master garndeners and friends. This year, the foundation received approximately $279 in cash and in-kind donations, which directly funded the purchase of essential items like seeds, growing material, tools, and garden structures.
