THE GUSTON FOUNDATION

During the year, the foundation; in conjuction with the ministry of culture of the government of mexico, through the national institutes of fine arts and literature (inbal), and anthropology and history (inah); provided supervision and support for the restoration of "the fight against terrorism" mural which was created by philip guston between august 1934 and january 1935 and is located in the michoacan regional museum in morelia, mexico. The restoration began in september 2023 with a ground-penetrating radar analysis to determine the sources and levels of moisture affecting the mural and the mural was reopened at the museum during a ceremony held on january 31, 2025. The michoacan regional museum is open to the public typically between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm tuesday through sunday.
