Puppetry at the carriage house (patch): a residency program setup through the jim henson foundation with support from the jane henson foundation. Puppet theater artists are given access to the henson carriage house space for 5-6 days to rehearse their new work and then perform a work-in-progress at the end of the week in front on an invited audience with a feedback session following the performance. Artists are also given a $1,000 stipend to help offset costs incurred during the residency. The patch residency was awarded to two artists in 2023: concrete temple theatre and maria camia.

Special events - reception: in 2023 la mama, a well-established downtown theater venue in new york city hosted a puppetry festival from november 2-18, 2023. The jim henson foundation supported the opening of this festival, underwriting a reception for opening night on november 2, 2023.

Richard exhibit chicago: the jim henson foundation has been in partnership with photographer and board member richard termine for a number of years. In 2019 the foundation exhibited richard's photographs in france at the world puppetry festival in 2 charlevillemezieres. This exhibit, american puppet theater today: the photography of richard termine, has toured to a number of locations since. In january 2023, it was exhibited at the chicago international puppet theater festival from january 18-29, 2023. The foundation's expenses for this covered the costs of the installation and strike of the exhibit, including transportation for artist richard termine to the exhibit opening, transportation and lodging for foundation president cheryl henson, and richard termine's artist fee.

From june 15-july 27, 2023, the exhibit was on display at the university of maryland, overlapping the dates of the national puppetry festival which was july 18-22. The foundation's expenses for this covered the costs of the installation and strike of the exhibit, the printing of 20 new photos and 2 new signs, exhibit mounting supplies, advertising materials, and an opening reception.
