The sheng foundation acted as one of the delegation members to taiwan for the 2024 taiwan education program sponsored by the enlightenment foundation (flushing, n.y.) this event is held twice a year for spring and fall semester respectively to distribute scholarships to underprivileged students, needy grade schools in the countryside and to interview new candidates. Eight members joined this year and we were divided into two groups. We also engaged in a visit to national tai-zhong university. Within four days from 5/21 to 5/24, my group visited 5 schools and 61 students around the western areas of taiwan. The present per diem rates for taipei, taichung, kaohsiung, and other regions are as follows:2 days in taipei for meetings $280 x 2 = $5603 days in other city $192 x 3 = $5762 days in taichung $189 x 2 x 2 persons = $7561 day in taipei $280 x 2 persons = $560
