$4.2MA wide range of researchers, including university students, scholars, curators and conservators consulted the foundation's archives, study materials, art collection and staff specialists toward monographs, exhibitions, and educational materials. Foundation specialists actively provided research findings, and guidance to organizations and authors toward their publications and exhibitions on willem de kooning and related subjects, which were widely accessible both within the united states and internationally. In partnership with the art institute of chicago, the foundation continued its ongoing comprehensive study of willem de kooning's drawings, which will culminate in a drawings retrospective. In collaboration with the gallerie dell'accademia, venice, the foundation embarked on preparations toward a major exhibition exploring the impact of de kooning's two stays in italy, in 1959 and 1969, on his work. This exhibition will be held at the gallerie dell'accademia, venice in 2024

Activity one continuedand will be accompanied by an illustrated catalogue, to share de kooning's work with the museum's multitude of international visitors.the foundation continued its in-house research and processing of documentation on willem de kooning's oeuvre and writings, toward eventual publication of resources to aid future scholarship on de kooning and 20th century art. The foundation continued to re-house, process, digitize and add to its archives. The care and preservation of its art collection is on-going.15 works were on long-term loan this fiscal year to institutions and municipalities including grand rapids art museum, johns hopkins university, longhouse reserve, stanford university law school and business school, new york university school of law, pinakothek der moderne, munich, the office of secretary antony blinken, washington, dc, the city of rotterdam, and the residence of the united states ambassador to the united kingdom, jane hartley.
