Sponsorship is provided to events that generate significant economic impact, media exposure, and/or are of strategic importance in positioning the state favorably in a particular sports discipline, category, or genre.

Utah olympic legacy and related efforts - the governor and the utah state legislature have encouraged the utah sports commission to assist with the state's olympic bid and exploration efforts. The organization has maintained a long running focus on landing events that build on utah's olympic legacy and position the state favorably with key olympic constituencies as it looks to host another olympic winter games. The utah sports commission, the state of utah, and its many partners have maintained and successfully executed on a comprehensive strategy that has left utah uniquely positioned as "ready, willing, and able" to host another olympic winter games.
