VALLEY SETTLEMENT

Valley settlement's family, friends, and neighbors program provides informal, in-home childcare caregivers with the skills and tools they need to ensure children are cared for in a safe, healthy environment. Through a two-year in-home coaching and training program, participating caregivers receive individual, in-home coaching on early childhood development, creating emergency plans, addressing environmental safety concerns, and more. Participating providers also receive periodic group training, including certification in first aid, cpr, and more. Program staff serve as a bridge, connecting children to early intervention services and access to in-home preschool.

Valley settlement's parent mentor program is an adult volunteer program hosted in partnership with local elementary schools. Parent mentor volunteers provide in-classroom support to children and teachers and engage in weekly trainings to encourage personal and professional growth and learn about community resources. In addition to supporting school systems and engaging in leadership development, parent mentor volunteers build bridges between families and school communities.

Valley settlement's lifelong learning program offers free adult education in the subject areas of english, spanish literacy, math, computer skills, and more. A strong connection with colorado mountain college encourages students to pursue their ged, higher education, and professional certifications to improve their employment prospects. The program acts as a launchpad for adults looking to pursue their dreams and create bright futures for themselves and their families.

Valley settlement's family support team offers wraparound services to program participants and community members, ensuring families have access to the resources they need to thrive. Family navigators connect families and individuals with resources to address social determinants of health, and volunteer community health workers (promotoras) provide education and resource connection to families and pregnant/postpartum mothers in their neighborhoods.

Valley settlement's alma program is a peer-delivered perinatal mental health initiative that significantly reduces anxiety, depression, and stress among pregnant women and mothers of children ages 0-5. Using an evidence-based approach, behavioral activation, the program equips trained compaeras with tools to support participants in improving their mental health and well-being. Originally developed as a research study with the university of colorado at boulder's department of psychology and neuroscience, alma provides an innovative model of peer support for women experiencing perinatal depression.

Valley settlement's emergency relief fund program provides communityassistance and grants for rental assistance, transportation support, medical assistance, and access to food and funeral expense support to ensure children and families are stable and supported during times of crisis.

Valley settlement's summer camp provides free summer workshops to engage youth from middle and high school age groups with a variety of creative and engaging activities.
