Program 1
$1.8MHousing - weld collaborates with homeowners and development companies in the greater seattle area to utilize and care for properties that are not occupied to house weld members. Weld members are required to pay a small membership fee to participate in the program and weld full time staff monitors the houses and members to ensure safety and compliance. This program greatly serves our members and community by housing individuals who otherwise would struggle or be unable to find a place to live. In 2023, we served 199 members in our housing program, served by our full time housing staff of 4 individuals.
Program 2
$1.7MWeld works - weld works is our employment division of the organization. Works partners with different community partners throughout the greater seattle area who need workers at their companies. When we have weld members who are seeking employment we pair them with the community partners, in the hopes of finding our members eventual full time employment. In 2023, we served 272 members through our weld works program. 163 members completed a digital literacy class and 167 members attended a life skills class. These members were served by our full time works team of 4 in 2023 with support from hr and our accounting department.
Program 3
$16K1426 - in 2023, the community/ barbershop initiative set out to create transformative change in community-law enforcement relations. Through a series of carefully curated workshops, neighborhood organizing, and youth engagement efforts, the initiative brought together community members and law enforcement officers to build trust, promote empathy, and redefine public safety. The barbershop's innovative approach centered on open dialogue, collaborative exercises, and real-life case discussions, encouraging participants to explore implicit biases and understand varying definitions of "community and "safety." the key 2023 activities included monthly workshops, walk it out events, and youth engagement. By the end of 2023, the barbershop initiative demonstrated significant success in bridging the gap between community members and law enforcement. In 2023, our community members served totaled 272. 1426 is the the overarching category that holds all individuals that utilize our resources.
